Goals

FOR STUDENTS:

  • Teach and reinforce basic concepts so students can develop or build upon their foundation in college planning, financial literacy, and career preparation

  • Provide them with a program and resources that they can use to improve their personal development and decision making skills in all areas of their lives

  • Demonstrate the importance of planning early for the future and how the decisions students make now will impact their opportunities in the future

FOR TEACHERS / FACILITATORS:

  • Provide a program and additional resources that can supplement their current schedule or curricula in the areas of college planning, financial literacy, and career preparation

  • Become a viable resource partner for their organization by providing additional support, answering questions and concerns, updating the program manual annually, and taking suggestions for additional presentation or topics of interest

The Money $mart Teens book has 48 financial literacy lessons that are

intended to help students form a solid understanding and basis for many

important financial decisions in their life.

Each of the 48 interactive lessons is designed to challenge, educate, and

enhance the student’s level of financial literacy. It contains youth friendly

“real world” financial scenarios that instill foundational principles about

understanding, making, saving, and spending money. The lessons the

students learn will be lessons that can use their entire life.

In an effort to continue the educational and learning process, the Future’s Club includes a variety of activities that students can benefit from after having completed the program, including the Main Event.

The concepts learned in this program can be applied in everyday life situations that students face now and will face in the future.

This hands-on event will provide students with the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge they have attained from prior lessons to a real-life scenario where they will have to pay bills and make decisions about different areas of their lifestyle, based on their income and household makeup
